Happy Father’s Day

Hey World,

It’s been a very long time since I posted anything to this blog. I really enjoy doing my blogs but life can really get you off track, especially work and more work. I’m just glad that I have a job. It could be worst right?

I just wanted to take a quick moment to say, Happy Father’s Day to all of the fathers taking care of business. If you are a dead beat dad reading this post…shame on you! But it isn’t too late to become a great role model for your child (son or daughter). I have a lot of regrets in life, but I have a chance to do better the second time around when I have children. Of course growing up without my father in my life was hard, but you can’t let that keep you from achieving your goals and dreams. I just think of how much different my life could have been if my father was in my life and impacted it negatively. Who knows…who cares…point is this. BE THERE FOR YOUR CHILDREN AND BE A POSITIVE MALE ROLE MODEL.

If you’re not teaching your son to be a man, then someone on TV will…TRUTH! Let’s think of the role models many young kids look up to today who are on TV….Lil Wayne, Drake, T.I., LeBron James, Bruno Mars, Chris Brown, Usher, Luda and the list goes on and on….and on.

Being a father means more than providing food and shelter for your family. Being a father is providing comfort, security, safety, positive coaching, morals, instilling responsibilities and character into your children’s life. And let’s not forget about academic support! GET OUT AND VOTE BE A FATHER!

Transformation #1: July 29, 2010 (Week 1-4)

Hello World!

So, if you have followed my recent blogs…then you already know who I am. If you are new to my blogs, Hello! My name is Jovon Torres and I am just a regular married 27 year old…who enjoys blogging…duh! lol. Just Playing! Welcome to my blog page and thanks for stopping by.

Today, I would like to talk about the first four (4) weeks of my Transformation (workouts)! Autobots Roll Out! (in Optimus Prime Voice) :-) I’ll discuss my routines and some of the exercises I do…but before I continue…I am NOT a personal trainer, nor do I know everything about personal fitness and health. I am just a beginner…some guy…who is merely talking about HIS PERSONAL experiences and what exercises/workouts he does. THAT’S IT!

However, I the day and age we live in with technology and the Internet, you can find just about ALL your answers to your questions online. That’s what I did! I did some research about workout plans and landed at www.MuscleandFitness.com. I used to buy the magazine, so I was familiar with the name. I found some links on their website and BOOM! I printed out a 12-week workout plan.

Here is the workout routine I got off of the Muscle and Fitness website. (THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF WORKOUTS ONLINE!)

DAILY WORKOUT SCHEDULE

DAY #1 MONDAY-CHEST/BICEPS

CHEST

  1. Incline Smith Machine Press- SETS (4) REPS (10)
  2. Flat Bench Barbell Press- SETS (4) REPS (10)
  3. Chest Dips- SETS (3) REPS (10)
  4. Pec Decs- SETS (3) REPS (12)

BICEPS

  1. EZ Bar Curls- SETS (3) REPS (8-10)
  2. Concentration Curls- SETS (3) REPS (10)
  3. Reverse Barbell Curls- SETS (3) REPS (12)

DAY #2 TUESDAY-REST DAY

DAY #3 WEDNESDAY-LEGS/SHOULDERS

LEGS

  1. Squats- SETS (5) REPS (10)
  2. Leg Press- SETS (4) REPS (10)
  3. Stiff Leg Deadlifts- SETS (4) REPS (8-12)
  4. Seated Calf Raises- SETS (3) REPS (8-10
  5. Standing Calf Raises- SETS (3) REPS (12-15)

SHOULDERS

  1. Dumbbell Shoulder Press- SETS (4) REPS (10)
  2. Seated Dumbbell Lateral Raises- SET (3) REPS (10)

DAY#4-REST DAY-THURSDAY

DAY#5 BACK/TRICEPS-FRIDAY

BACK

  1. Wide Grip pull Ups- SETS (4) REPS (10)
  2. Lat Pull Downs- SETS (4) REPS (10)
  3. One Arm Dumbbell Row- SETS (4) REPS (10)
  4. T-Bar or Cable Row- SETS (4) REPS (10)

TRICEPS

  1. Lying Tricep Extension- SETS (3) REPS (10)
  2. Rope pulldown- SETS (3) REPS (10)
  3. Reverse Single Arm Extension SETS (3) REPS (10)
  4. Dips- SETS (3) REPS (8-15)

WEEKEND REST-DAY#6 & #7-SATURDAY and SUNDAY

So, there you go! That is the workout that I pulled from M&F…I tweaked it out some and will show you want I do different now on my workouts. If you are reading this and want to change your body image or be more fit…just use this as a model to at least get you started back in the gym. You can always buy personal training sessions, which cost A LOT OF MONEY, or try to do it yourself. There is no wrong answer…just the right move! So what are you waiting for…GET UP AND GET TO THE GYM!

Summer Days and Summer Nights-Final

Ok, so I need to talk about yesterday (since I didn’t post) and tomday…well I really didn’t do much. My wife and I are hosting this Family Dinner on Saturday at our house, so I’ve been working around the house trying to get things looking nice. I did a lot of yard work…but it still looks like crap back there…lol…no lie! Very defeating… :-(

I’ve played Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 a lot and well…that was also defeating because I SUCK! lol. That game can make you SO upset because people cheat HARD on that game. lol. And let’s not even talk about “SPAWN KILLS”…yeah, let’s change the topic. “MW2 can kiss my (fill in the line with whatever word you feel deserves to be used) ____________________________”!

Well my summer is going by rather quick…and the Fall semester will be here and I’ll be back at work. I kinda need to get back to work to make some money. Summers off is great but you have no money and don’t get paid. BOO!

If I haven’t mentioned that I started to really get serious about working out and my health…well I have, so I will start a separate blog on the “Transformation”. Please take some extra time and read those blogs as well. I will be posted a new blog within the next 48 hours…promise.

Well for those few who read my blosg…THANK YOU SO MUCH! I don’t know who you are, but it means a lot. It would nice if I could get some comments from my readers.

Summer Days and Summer Nights #2

Hello World,

I told you I’m going to do my best to keep this blog up to date.  I hope I am not boring you, but they will get better, especially when I attach videos and add more pictures. I am still a “newbie” when it comes to this blog thing…but hey I’m trying.

I think I will keep the “Summer Days and Summer Nights” blog going, so this is #2 in the series. I’ll talk about my day and write on three (3) highlights of the day. Duh! lol. So let’s jump into this day (Saturday July 24, 2010)

Highlight #1. On Friday, I realized that one of my sprinkler heads was broken, so I had to dig it up…and realized that the PVC pipe was broken. Whack! So, I hate to cut it and add a new elbow. I’m sharing this because I was able to use the “little hands on education” I received from my Father-In Law to fix my broken sprinkler ALL BY MYSELF…well Terica (Wife) helped add the glue to the pipe and elbow.

Highlight #2. After two days away from the gym, I had a very good workout. It always feels good to hit the weights and get a sense of accomplishment plus a self-esteem boost…because you are doing something most people wouldn’t want to do on a Saturday. The 24 Hour Fitness by my house was SO DEAD! Amazing! I didn’t have to wait for the equipment and their wasn’t hella dudes walking around like they are straight “juicing”. I was trying to do triceps because I skipped them the last time I was at the gym, but I some got this hella bad cramp in my neck. lol. It hurt pretty bad…I mean I really had to refrain from falling down and throwing a “fit” right in the middle of the gym. I guess that was a highlight!

Highlight #3. I washed my car after of year of neglect and procrastination. I felt so bad for my “Fayth” (name of car)…she was so dirty. So, I got home from the gym and decided, “I am going to wash my car! With a cramp in my neck!” I rubbed her down real good…haha…yeah…we bounded.

So those were my highlights today. Let’s do it again tomorrow. Goodnight!

Summer Days and Summer Nights

Hello World!

Yes, I am still alive and doing well. I apologize for not posting blogs in like…forever…but life can really get you sidetracked. Let me just get everyone up to speed from the last post and what has happened in my life, not that it’s very exciting, but if you are reading this post, then you must have some interest in my life and what I post. :-)

So, my wife and I bought a little German Sheppard/Pit Bull puppy off Craigslist about 4-5 weeks ago. He is a sweet heart…but now that he is getting older…and in his puppy stage. He is biting everything! I mean everything! he has already tore through some of my socks and even messed up a few of my wife’s shoes. We are going to take him to puppy training very soon here…just looking for a day and time each week that works for us. Oh, I almost forgot…our dogs name is Tommy! It was his name when we bought him…so we kept it!

In other news, the house is slowly coming along. My In-Laws have been very supportive and helpful in the process of “fixing this house”, which is a blessing. We are almost done with the sprinklers in the back yard. BTW…our front lawn is looking GREEN now!

I just finished up working the 5-week summer school program, so now I enjoy my 19 days off of work! Yay to me! I plan on getting some work done around the house…and relaxing a lot.

I’ve also started to be more serious about my health and fitness…so, I started hitting the gym up daily. I feel good and I see the slight changes in my body, which will one day be HUGE changes if i stay consistent and keep at it.

My Wild Adventure at the SPCA

Hello World!

I just posted a new video (Vlog) on my Youtube channel. This is a video of me describing my wild adventure at a local SPCA the other day. My wife and I had a great time and experience UNTIL this incident with this dog, which was very playful and sweet while in his cage; however, this was not the case when he was set free. Long story short…I saved the dog from escaping the facility and making me and my wife look like FOOLS. You know I wasn’t about to let that happen.

Spring Break…with No Spring Weather

Hello World!

So, I was off this entire week from school and work for Spring Break; however, there has yet to be a day that I would classify as ‘Spring Break Weather”. The weather in Sacramento has been crappy…so can I say, “FAIL” for Spring Break? Actually, this week hasn’t been all that bad. I was able to clean up around the house and get some things done, like mow and add fertilizer to the lawn. I was able to play XBOX 360 (Halo 3) with friends and I even had a “mini” photo shoot with a friend and his green screen…pretty cool stuff!

I am a little disappointed with myself because I didn’t achieve my goal of working out everyday this week. My goal was to get back into the gym and start working out again…I’m just not motivated to do it. I guess I need a trainer or someone to motivate and push me to get my butt to the gym. Can any of you relate?

Well this is going to be a short blog because I need to get back to my chores (cleaning house), so enjoy your day and stay blessed!
